Bringing home a Miniature Schnauzer puppy during covid

A new Miniature Schnauzer puppy can provide comfort during times of crisis. Here at Fernweh Schnauzers, we have seen a big rise in interest in our Miniature Schnauzer Puppies during the Covid19 pandemic. (Check out our current litter of Miniature Schnauzer Puppies here).  Adoption interests are at an all-time high, and the demand for a new puppy is greater than ever before. We are excited that more people are finding value in dog ownership. However, we also need to be careful to do each of our schnauzer adoptions correctly and for the right motives.

With a rise in virtual work, many people are finding that they have the extra time for a new puppy. There are a few things you need to know when sniffing out your new best friend during the COVID pandemic.

First, patience is essential. We are working hard to ensure that we match our Miniature Schnauzer puppies with the perfect families. Please understand that our adoption process takes time and should not be rushed. As breeders of principle, we do not believe in rushing an adoption for the sake of the adopters’ patience. We take pride in understanding every Schnauzer puppy’s personality and making sure it fits their adopting family. We like to wait until each puppy is at least 4 to 5 weeks old to be sure our personality tests are accurate. While this process is different than many breeders, we believe that personality matching is key to a successful adoption. To learn more about what goes into our adoption process click here.

Second, schedule your appointment with Covid19 in mind. In an effort to keep your family (and ours) healthy, we are adjusting appointments to follow social distancing and safety protocol. If your Miniature Schnauzer puppy is being delivered, we will stay in contact so we can comply with any new rules. We will work with you to ensure that your adoption process is simple and safe!

Lastly, understand that your local vet may not be doing face-to-face visits. Contact them early, and expect possible vaccination delays as your local vet is likely busy with new puppy owners. Getting a new pup during COVID might take a few extra steps, but it is worth the extra effort. Adopting a Miniature Schnauzer puppy might just be what you need to sprinkle joy into your life!
